Ista Festival at St. Julian's
From 28th to 31st May St. Julian's School hosted the ISTA Festival Saudade welcoming over 100 middle school students. Workshops, a trip tp Sintra and a Fado evening colored this exciting event enjoyed by all. Thank you Ian Johnston for organizing this and Allison Bradfield for coordinating the hosting!
Here are some of the comments from the participants:
Dear Ian and the wonderful St. Julian's team,
Thank you so much for organising the MS ISTA festival. I think that you achieved the aims of such a festival in every way.
Our students felt welcomed from the first moment and your organisation ensured that the festival flowed smoothly all weekend. They loved the families they were housed with and I am pleased to report that some new friendships have bloomed.
I must mention that one of the highlights for me was watching the band on Saturday night. It is important to bring as much cultural understanding into our work as possible. In fact, we loved the festival so much that I am trying to convince our Elementary teacher to bring some students to the primary festival next year!
Obrigado!

Thank-you once again for a great festival. Everything was so well organized from the housing to the workshops. The catering was such a high standard for a festival to provide and your choice of restaurant was beautiful. The final presentation was amazing and my students said that they did not understand saudade at the beginning of the festival but got it by the end. The whole event was memorable for both students and staff.
Many thanks, Anne
We are back in sunny Jeddah. I just want to say how impressed I was by all aspects of the Festival in St Julian's. The memory of the final ensemble will stay in my mind for a long time. I think the success of the event must be a reflection of the efforts you put into the organization and delivery of the programme.
