Report from Primary
The Primary PACT Committee met every month with the Primary Principal, the Deputy Principal, and one of the two Vice-Principals.
When the children started school this year, there were new CleverBoards linked to networked PCs in every classroom across the Primary School. The majority of the teachers feel that these whiteboards have had an enormous effect on teaching and say that as soon as the children get an opportunity to use them the whole lesson acquires an entirely new dynamic. All children become enthusiastic about learning when it comes to CleverBoards; plus the fact that this tool has opened a huge field for teachers in terms of resources.

ISTA thank you!
On 28th May, 105 visitors from 8 different schools arrived at St. Julian's for the ISTA (International Schools Theatre Association) Festival. There were three days of programs, activities and camaraderie. For the Parents' Association this meant, more specifically, over 70 students who were hosted by St. Julian's families for those three days. Thank you to those host families for the hospitality and care they provided.

Busy Bees
Parents always say that it is a real help for them to have flexibility when collecting their kids at the end of the school day. Some parents have long journeys to make from work; others have kids in different locations. Many schools make no provision at all. St. Julian's offers the 'Busy Bees' After School Club to provide safe supervision for children who have to wait for collection from school.

Year 11 Trial Examinations
The recently completed year 11 trial examinations are obviously an important procedure on the way to the final (I)GCSE exams in May and June. Some care should be taken, however, in the interpretation of the results of these exams. Let me explain what I mean.

Secondary School Report by Bobby Downes March 2009
Dear Parents, We are now more than half way through the academic year and the upper half of the school have either just completed or are in the middle of mock exams in preparation for their GCSE and IB finals in the summer so, it is a stressful and busy time for both students and teachers. The school has also held two very important presentations for parents providing information on the IB programme for Year 11 and the GCSE options available for Year 9. Both evenings were very well attended and received, providing comprehensive information to enable the students and parents to make informed choices for the future.
