Fun and Games Day 2009
St Julian's School, Carcavelos, Saturday 13th June, 11am-6pm
The British Community Council of Lisbon is pleased to confirm that arrangements are well underway for our now traditional multi-sports day in mid-June. Tim Munnion is, as always, responsible for the organisation of the sporting activities and has the possibility of including a few more teams, if they contact him quickly on: tim.munnion@excelformacao.pt Teams of 10 will participate in such diverse activities as field hockey, lacrosse, touch rugby, soccer, volleyball, basketball and Scottish Country Dancing! The emphasis is on enjoyment, and at the end of the day the trophy for sportsmanship is given as much importance as the team with most points. Funds raised, usually in the order of 5000, will be shared this year between The British Retirement Home and Sister Agnes Childrens Home. As well as donations from the teams in the form of entry fees, much revenue is generated by a raffle, always with excellent prizes. Tickets are available from member organisations, details on the BCC site: bcclisbon.org The IPS of Carcavelos will provide their excellent barbecue to keep everyones energy levels up, helped with side dishes from the WRVS. Liquid refreshments will be available from the Casuals bar, managed by BCC secretary Dave Jackson. Everyone, from the British, Portuguese and International communities are invited along for, what is always, a great day out in a beautiful setting Greg Leadbeater, BCC chairman and chair of the organising committee, is available on 21 457 9612 to answer any general questions about this event.
